RETURN TRIP January 7,1997
There' a taste of you
In every breath
I take
Your memory
In each glance
Never far gone
You in absence
Reality remade
As though you
Are a part of everything
In nature, industry,in life
You have pollinated everything
Imbued with meaning.
There is no putting you away Nor forgetting how impenetrable
You have become
Self made. The mountains stand
Lands swell--flooded--and still
You are the same
A part of everything
From yesterday until forever
You
Just one black man
Alone in a cell
In every breath
I take
Your memory
In each glance
Never far gone
You in absence
Reality remade
As though you
Are a part of everything
In nature, industry,in life
You have pollinated everything
Imbued with meaning.
There is no putting you away Nor forgetting how impenetrable
You have become
Self made. The mountains stand
Lands swell--flooded--and still
You are the same
A part of everything
From yesterday until forever
You
Just one black man
Alone in a cell
